The Plastic Constellations

Men In Dark Times

We just can't stop runnin', the wheel's already turning around
Because we're up against the furnace, the heat is making terrible sounds
This water's rising at a terrible rate, we've got to escape
With our lungs already burning, the past is catching up to us now
It's time to shake off this unbearable weight before it's too late
We're lacking in direction, but tearing big tracks in the ground

But for the rest, we're just stuck in East St. Paul
We never rest, we skip spring and summer, head straight to the fall
With storm and stress, we turn to bank tellers at the earliest call
Cause second best is never good enough when you're tryin' for it all

You want to believe but you don't want to be wrong
You gotta move on
That's not a shower it's a hurricane
You want to be heard but you don't want to be hard
You gotta be strong
We're in the middle of the churning waves

We just can't stop running, the feeling's burning straight through so loud
Because we're up against the churning, its loudest at this edge of the town
This water's rising at a terrible rate, we've got to escape
With our hearts already hurting the past is catching up to us now
It's time to shake off this unbearable weight before it's too late
Because we're lacking in direction but swearing that we'll never back down

Clouds part, the sun and a fresh start
Cause the path's clear ahead
And hope's not dead
Fight till the end
